@techit NZOSS are using it with NextCloud at cloud.nzoss.nz
@klaatu @Ahuka
Yes, I got pranked, see: https://mastodon.nzoss.nz/@strypey/103955715986817078
@stevenroose that's step 2, after the standardization work is done. #WHO are not the domain experts in technical standards and I'm guessing they have more work on their hands now than bikeshedding in technical discussions ;)
@alcinnz
@wolf480pl noted.
@stevefoerster yes, I've seen that, but there's at least a couple of ways to interpret those results. One is that Wikipedia is more accurate than people think. The other is that #Britannica isn't as accurate as people think.
It would fascinating to see a rigorous academic review comparing and contrasting Wikipedia and its classic cathedral-building development model, with the bazaar of the Smallest Federated Wiki (#FedWiki) network.
(For those unfamiliar with it, I'm referencing the classic #OpenSource evangelism piece 'The Cathedral and the Bazaar', by #EricRaymond:
http://www.catb.org/~esr/writings/cathedral-bazaar/ )
Fast Company, on the other hand, think #Wikipedia and its volunteers are
"... the web’s best weapon against misinformation":

@LeoSammallahti It depends which numbers you're looking at. Which year(s)? English Wikipedia only or overall? etc etc
Also #SWPRS is:
"... an independent nonprofit research group investigating geopolitical propaganda in Swiss and international media. SPR is run by independent academics and receives no external funding."
https://swprs.org/contact/
... citing the results of academic research:
https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2017/Q4/results-of-wikipedia-study-may-surprise.html
#Vice is ... well ... Vice. I know who I'd trust more out of the two.
Swiss Propaganda Research (SPR), founded in 2016, is an independent nonprofit research group investigating geopolitical propaganda in Swiss and international media. SPR is run by independent academics and receives no external funding.

@wolf480pl no? are autonomous drones not robots?
@arcans
> more like 1-to-1 IM that have the options to create and invite people to a chatroom
The #UX of most Jabber apps are like that yes. But #Riot (Matrix client) is more like ...
> chatroom-oriented from which you can have 1-to-1 conversations
Either way, the protocols don't determine that. It's totally up to the apps devs. #Pattle (another Matrix client) is more like IM. #Movim (Jabber client) is designed as a social media app, as is Salut-a-Toi.
@wolf480pl OK, but we've drifted a long way from the issue at hand, as raised in the link in the OP.
@hirojin #Invidious gets blocked by YT from time to time. Same with #Searx getting blocked by the search engines it meta-searches. The solution in both cases was to set up lots of instances, to spread the query sources, and avoid a SPOF.

I fell for an April Fools prank. See:

@zardoz good point. I've started using #Jabber again recently, as well as #Matrix, and I find I can't help using them like the fediverse, a web forum, or a mailing list, rather than a realtime channel. I think the solution is tools that integrate delayed and realtime interactions. So the default is, say, a fediverse app, but there is a way to see when someone else is online, and launch a realtime chat with them.
#HatTip to @lightweight for setting up and caretaking the #NZOSS services.

If anyone is interested in testing Big Blue Button for voice/ video conferencing, I now have an account on the bbb.nzoss.nz instance, and I can set up a room specifically for your use if needed. Otherwise, the 'community room' mentioned here remains available most of the time for casual drop-ins:
