@vfrmedia@PeteMoss I was following a discussion somewhere else on Aspartame last night. I searched for published studies (more reliable than epidemiological) and didn't see any about Aspartame being harmful. The closest I came was US's National Cancer Institute's page that artificial sweeteners had been studied as possible contributors to cancer. What non-US sources have the truth about Aspartame?
This was published in the 1970s, the next decade would be the 1980s. Go look at the 2018 page https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/diet and see if 'tremendous excess of sugar', alongside artificial sweeteners and acrylamide and excess of chemicalized animal protein, is listed as a contributor or factor in cancer.
The next time I get #scam#spam I'm going to try this rescam idea: "Next time you get a dodgy email in your inbox, says Netsafe, forward it on to me@rescam.org, and a proxy email address will start replying to the scammer for you, doing its very utmost to waste their time"
@gemlog Still laughing about that, thinking about if I did post it and some female follower happened upon that with no context at all: "What's she on about? Does she have to use that word?" I told my spouse I'd not seen "AYBS?" and he was floored. Lately when I revisit shows and movies from decades ago I am reminded of why my tiny self did not like them: Captain Peacock & the other senior dude petrified me, as did Prof Mainwaring in "Doctor in the House."
@gemlog Thanks for the nostalgia rabbit hole. "John Cleese did not learn to drive until a year after this episode was broadcast. A double was needed to drive the car."
@drako Thanks! I ended up buying something not on a written list, but written (figuratively) on my heart. I bought a dry and scratchy pen on impulse in July on name alone: never again.
@gemlog "Oi! Where are our peanuts today, guv'nor? Hope you brought enough for everyone!"
Recently my husband reported that a fourth crow attempted to join a known trio for receiving food waste/leftovers in our driveway and the trio weren't being welcoming.
@SlowRain Apparently the downvotes are from not using imgur.com. I checked the wiki FAQ twice, nothing about photos requiring imgur.com as image host. I don't use imgur.com for pics. Why do people have to be jerks.
@gemlog Corvids are amazing. I've had apprehensive respect for them when I read they can remember faces. We can "call" them when we bring out remains from bone stock preparation.
@gemlog Dogs have more neurons going on in their brains and can do uncanny math calculations, seriously. I've seen a show where dogs, EVERY TIME, find the shortest distance between it and a ball thrown in the pool by running along the pool, then jumping in to swim toward the ball. However, I believe dogs are only as smart as their owners. My cat is lazy & doesn't perform for people: no percentage.
@gemlog I have never owned a dog, I don't know how varied their vocabularies are. I know my cat understands his name, bed, and no: the only things that matter to a cat.
@gemlog If you grew up with television as most of us did, do you wonder if people nowadays are 'programmed' or conditioned somehow by modern television messaging?
