i see it like the episode of TNG where benjamin maxwell goes gunning down cardassian ships because they are shipping weapons and trying to hide it.
jester’s not wrong but his tactics on this issue are.
the fediverse would be an excellent target for a russian misinformation campaign.

where jester and myself would disagree on that is that i believe he would be in favor of maintaining american psy-ops campaigns, just the russian/dprk ones are bad.
i think we need to harden against any nation state campaigns instead.

further i do think that the issue of rogue nation states influencing free speech on social platforms as russia was doing on facebook/twitter is something worth having a discussion.
the fediverse could stand to have some hardening against such things

i don’t have any opinion on counter.social
i think jester is amusing, but don’t necessarily agree with his tactics.

i sure love how AT&T pushed out a firmware update to their CPE and broke inbound IPv6. this isn't causing problems, no way.

As I keep saying, the I in IoT really means "intranet."
Meaning that they should be on 10.0.0.0/8, and remote access should be mediated by some sort of gateway app (where the actual security should be).

Me: "Well, the Takei rumor is probably being spread by people who have no lives, not Russian bots."
Them: "I haven't seen any talk about it on *Mastodon*!"
Me: "You know there's still other places where people who have no lives create shitshows for their own entertainment, right?"

@segfault IoT security issues can be solved by removing them from the public internet.
The solution is really "Intranet of Things" and they can keep the stupid acronym that way.

@segfault on the 4th screen you get a color wheel, which is cool but that should be on an advanced mode. a kid is likely to be overwhelmed by a color wheel vs a palette.
