@segfault yes that is what i really don’t get. the technology is there, just not the usability. and the usability is the easiest part!

instead you get stuff like lifx where you have to tap through 5 screens to get to a palette.

there should be one app that brings it all together.

after all these devices are mostly about making the habitat customizable to suit present mood. if a child cannot do this, then the largest beneficiary of such technology has been failed by it.

i would say the same for dementia patients, but that is a larger challenge that isn’t easily solved. with that said, if i were a caregiver of such an elderly person, i would dislike these IoT devices because they would likely set me up for failure on quick, synchronized changes (dim lights + music)

seriously I am of the belief that an IoT device should be easy enough to use that an autistic 7 year old should know how to make it do what they want. if they can’t figure it out or it becomes boring then you have failed on usability.
