Thanks on the smile. I don't have a good sense for how to make my mouth smile in a way that doesn't look forced or awkward. Almost have to catch it by accident.

@Johnny_of_the_swamp There is some good writing there, but there is good writing everywhere. I can tell you for the stuff I "syndicate" there, I don't get any extra value. Of course, I don't really promote my stuff there, so there's that.

Meanwhile, there's Anchor, which is offering a similar service to Opinion FOR FREE. They've also got the big VC monies behind them. I had to ask the question: so what's your business model?

There's a reason I refer to it as Silly Con Valley.

Today's example: a podcast hosting service called Opinion, which I used for an inconsequential "personal" podcast I had produced.

I knew that paying $5 for the app, no other fees, and to have all the content hosted on Amazon S3 simply wasn't going to add up to something with a long term future.

Today was the day they apparently came to terms with that reality and are shutting down in a month. Shocked it took them almost 3 years.
