@DistroJunkie I HATE the OneCrap integration with Win10. You have to jump through so many hoops to even create a local user account now. It's ridiculous.

@AndrzejL that's true. I do have an iPad, and it's pretty good. I do prefer the work flow of Android though. I imagine that's because I'm used to it though.

@AndrzejL the only thing that puts me off iPhone is the price - they're silly money. I tend to go Android devices from a year or 2 ago.

@mikebabb the main thing is security. Correct, caching will pretty much do the same thing, however you WP instance is still accessible to the Internet. That's not the case with the static site plugin.

@DistroJunkie well she's actually non-binary and identifies as a giraffe. Shame on you for imposing your white male privilege on to Tia.
Tia will not be happy when she find out about this. "They" may well dye their fur purple in protest.

@h4ck3r9 @fosstodon the whole point of a DDoS is that its distributed, so you would need multiple endpoints to attack it. Ergo, you won't be able to do that locally without spinning up a load of VMs.
You could DoS yourself though. Just download the high orbit ion Canon and use that. DO NOT use it online.

@DistroJunkie yeah, she’s my dog (and my cat too). I love my dogs face, she’s like “Kev, WTF are you doing?”

@g I’ve considered implementing cloudflare on my sites a number of times, but it always seems too good to be true, so it concerns me. Offering that much for free, what’s in it for them?

@h4ck3r9 @AndrzejL correct. htaccess can be used for all sorts of things - allow and deny IP addresses, url redirects, all sorts. It's really powerful.
For example, the htaccess on my site does the following:
Blocks all traffic apart from 3 IP addresses (Work, home, parents).
Redirects /feed and /rss to my rss xml path.
Tells apache where my 404 page is for errors.
That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Tried #Mastalab on my phone - nowhere near as mature as @Tusky IMHO. You click a link and it renders is in this weird non-responsive web browser. The UI also feels a little more clunky than Tusky's. Nope, not impressed.

I wrote a thing about static websites, and why I've moved over to one...
