@sunweaver@kev It's my first Thinkpad, so I was a little nervous about it. I splurged and got a 3 year warranty on it, so if anything goes sideways it's replaceable. So far, I've been loving the heck out of it. I'm testing Neon, but I'm not expecting to stick with it very long. Throwing a new distro on this thing seems to take less time than putting the distro onto a USB drive, so I might have entered a new era of distro hopping... For a little while anyway.
@m3g5 Yea, just upgraded yesterday. It's been good for the most part, but the screen saver crashed on me and wouldn't let me unlock it earlier. You know, IMMEDIATELY after I bought another computer. Pretty sure my older system is just jealous.
Hello, I'm Björgvin and I've been running Ubuntu for the last 10 years or so and have started to delve a bit deeper into Linux. Only just discovered Mastodon, not quite sure how this lark works. :)
@peanutbutter144 Any image you'd like to see as an emoji. I can do necessary conversions and that kind of stuff. No worries. Just an idea what you're looking for.
@brandon I'm not opposed to the idea in and of itself, but it would take funding well beyond what we're currently bringing in and I imagine a significant time investment. I do think that advertising is something FOSS projects lack, but I can't see how we can address that on the budget we're looking at here.
@linuxnews_de Well, it is still in beta, so that's not unexpected. Hopefully the kinks will get ironed out quickly and this will live up to it's potential.
@gwmngilfen I think that's a distinct possibility in the near future to see a Hugo/Ghost/Jekyll/etc version of this. As @jdormit said in his post, his "mission is to open up the entire internet", and that includes "every website, every social network, and every blog". I love that idea, and I hope that he's not the only one that has it. I'm not coder enough to pull this stuff off, but I'm sure there are others out there that can, and hopefully they take inspiration from this.
