@kemonine No clue.
I think people know on a very superficial level that they're trading privacy for product, but I don't think they realize the extent of what they're trading. The predictive power. I think that's a major problem.

I know there are a few hardware keyboard fans here, and some that build their own keyboards. Here's a walk though of one person's project. Looks like fun.

This isn't new, but I think this is good information, especially in today's market.

@pinguino I haven't been doing Python very long, and I understand classes and how they work, but I have yet to find a reason to use one in my actual work projects. Maybe it's because most of my stuff is just baseline process automation. It's not terribly exciting, and I'm not writing anything that really blows anybody's hair back.

Work I've got 237 characters on both monitors, personal is 199.
The horror.... the horror......
@maigonis I personally use DuckDuckGo, but I've been considering standardizing on Searx.
@mbarboza Welcome!
I don't have any really good advice regarding hardware in Brazil specifically. Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to visit. Linux wise, Thinkpads have been rock solid for me, and I've had really good luck with Dell so far. I'd suggest hitting Ebay or a similar site and seeing what you can pick up second hand. The Thinkpad I'm using now was relatively cheap because it was an older refurb. Stick, runs Linux as smooth as glass.
Hi everybody! My name is Marcelo and I’m a Brazilian mathematician that loves OpenSource in general. What advices you have to me about acquiring hardware (laptop, desktop) to run Linux Slackware or OpenBSD? Keep in mind that hardware costs 4 times the US dollar in Brazil. Thanks in advance!
Welcome to Fosstodon. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your search engine!
Hello, my name's Tom and I'm working on an #opensource alternative search engine using Gigablast as a base. Up until recently, I used @tomdienstbier as my main account #introductions
I'm sure no one here has any opinions on this at all. Right?
