And if you are not able to present your opinion without also being an ass, that is not really a problem of your surroundings, it is much more likely to be a problem of your opinions, and a good hint that you need to rethink them.

@jamie @kev Are they though, really? Have you actually tried seeing things from their side? That they might have had to put up with shit for a very long time, and are quite fed up with it, while it has never registered to you?

@jamie @kev People have the freedom to do that. That has not changed. What has changed is that people are getting called out for being assholes, where before this would have been silently accepted.

Many times, people do not actually realise that they are being assholes. In these cases they can either listen to what they are being told, and try to adjust accordingly, or they can complain about told.

@Ylem I think it is time for you to sit down and think about why you feel the need to insult people instead of discussing with them, and thinking about what on earth you think you are accomplishing by doing so.

What you have accomplished in this case is convince someone that you are a rude and insuffarable person who it is not worth talking to.

@Ylem @zemmert You literally can be exactly that, and lots of people are, which is what you are seeing now. You are not force to provide services for anyone, and you can take steps to precent them if you don't like them.

Mastodon was founded on the idea of not giving a voice to the far right. That was literally why it exists.
