I wonder if we will ever again see a world where you can build a software project in a modern language and not see several screenfuls of recursive dependencies that you have no idea what they do or who made them, or that they will still exist a few years from now.

@snakeboy This is because humans have ten fingers, and evolutionarily it is disadvantageous to have to keep track of more facts than fingers.

This is why humans are more advanced than dogs, which only have four fingers, and thus can only know eight things.

Some mutations exists where dogs can know nine or ten things, but these are generally less liked, and breed standards discourage them.

Just watched the first ten minutes of the new Evangelion film that was previewed at Japan Expo. Evangelion is STILL after all this time something unlike anything else I can think of.

The way it manages to build up both tension and unease, and release it again in an action scene is not something I've seen done elsewhere quite as well. The way it dances along the edge of making sense and surrealism without ever quite falling off is also amazing.

@DashEquals @jamie @kev No, it's not. There is no such thing as "discussion/debate", "debate" is a very specific type of disucssion, and the vast majority of discussions are not debates, nor should they be treated as such.

Sometimes, you are just being told you are an ass, and you need to suck it up and apologise. The other party has no obligation in such an exchange.

@jamie @kev Look, if there is one thing you should be taking away here, it's that you should probably do more listening to what people say when they are unhappy about something, and less reacting against it because it makes you uncomfortable.

@jamie @kev Demanding civility has historically always been how oppressors keep the oppressed out the discussion, so no. You are not obliged to respond civilly to someone being an ass to you. It is 100% the responsibility of the offending party to make things right.
