@neil These 'articles' are just Google-bait. For some reason, people still tend to search for actual questions on Google and these headlines often come up first in the results.
My local newspaper often has such gems hidden on its website - world-changing 'news' stories like "What time is Strictly Come Dancing on tonight?" or "When do the clocks go back?"

Doesn't matter how virtuously you consume - you're still a consumer under capitalism.
Capitalism has co-opted every 'ethical consumption' effort, and profited off of it, and in most cases simply become more cunning at hiding the real costs.
This isn't to say, stop trying at all.
Rather: stop thinking that you can use capitalism to beat capitalism. Stop trying to buy your way out of capitalist destruction.
Find another way.

@SinaCutie I've just moved across to an outfit called Inception Hosting (easy to find on Google). They're a lot cheaper than Bytemark and everything seems to work well, it's actually a bit faster.
I don't want to *recommend* them as such because I haven't been with them long enough, but they seem sound up to now.

@SinaCutie I have had happy times with Bytemark (bytemark.co.uk) who seem very reasonable. I've just moved off them for cost reasons - I need the money - but I would go back to them in a flash.
There is no setup bullshit, you just sign up, pay, and launch your servers (as many as you need).

@lehighcommunalist Is not getting the right speed an American thing? I pay for 100Mbps down and 6Mbps up (for some reason) and I get this. I know speed test type sites can be gamed, but I get the same speeds in real-life downloads, too.
