@maiyannah It weirds me out that he felt necessary to remove me from existence completely.
Probably part of the process or not thought through though.
-
@lnxw37a1 Thanks, it means a lot to me :-).
Seeing the full thread *is* problematic indeed, because the best representation of the thread was on the author's instance, and it got crippled when I were erased from its history.
-
@lnxw37a1 I promised to myself to be more careful with certain statements ;-).
I've got a certain impression about the competency of the Russian authorities a few years back, and they never let me down on that.
Local mediae like the idea that the Russians managed to interfere in the US elections, because it means that "we" managed to actually pull something off successfully %).
-
@drequivalent Спасибо %).
У меня противоречивые чувства из-за сего.
Ну я чувствую себя виноватым перед инстансом, пусть даже и забанил какой-то приватный инстанс человека, на кого никто не был подписан.

I don't think LoadAverage.org was ever banned in the 5 years of its existence: https://awoo.chown.me/@vigdis/100726169427682827
I still have the mind-set of the old times when the network was smaller . If I felt like saying something, I just did, and expected everyone to appreciate the little contribution to the conversation I had made.
But the fediverse is big and wide now, and I'm just a relic that no longer knows how to behave.
I apologise to the users of !loadaverage, I should know better.
-
@vigdis His defensive position that is.
-
It took 6 years for someone to ban me on the !fediverse.
-
@vigdis Considering his defensive reason, he probably won't understand no matter what kind of attack you pick.
So if you want him to *understand*, then this is not an effective tactic for sure.
My previous assertions were based on an assumption that you want to permanently silence him. That's how it seemed.
-
@vigdis Tell the mailing list moderators to ask him to stop and then to ban him if he doesn't.
The typical course of action.
But, come on, don't call the police, his ISP or the email server he's using.
-
> did you read the shit the guy wrote?
@vigdis Yes, I did. He's been arrogant and annoying.
> why do you even talk to me?
You know, open discussions, the StatusNet spirit of things :-).
This popped up in my timeline.
-
@vigdis You clearly want to destroy the persons E-mail address for being unpleasant.
Quite a severe punishment if that's his main account to which he attached everything.
That'll show him for making people mildly upset.
-
@vigdis Does your plan involve hunting him down with a rifle for being a jerk on a mailing list?
-
@schestowitz Guess what is cultivated by the powers that be in Russia as the thing that stands between us and prosperity :-).
-
@vinzv As time goes by, their methods become increasingly more intrusive.
Is this why they called the thing Edge? Because they'll go to the edge to promote it?
-
@schestowitz I just dislike when somebody decides to throw a whole country of people under the bus like that.
Unless the website is targeted by the country's state for spreading propaganda through bots, then I can understand. Probably not the case here, but who knows?
I really hope this is not political.
-
@schestowitz The other way 'round: he bans IPs assigned to Russia.
-
@moonman That's not entirely correct if by MBR you mean the partition table (as it seems from the context).
BIOS just executes the drive as a programme from the first bytes, then it's up to them what to do.
GRUB on MBR can very well boot from GPT as long as there are additional 2 MiB of space for it (an extra marked partition). Nothing needs to be in the MBR partition table for that.
There's the matter of booting from an MBR partition, but who needs that anyway?
