@kev@ChrisWere The tricky thing is Linux videos are quite the niche. If you focus on niche distros, you're niche-squared. Playing game foo on distro bar could be niche-cubed. If you want audience (which you seem to desire for increased revenue) you need to make something that appeals to a wider audience, frankly. Also, multiple revenue streams make sense, so both ad revenue, patreon are good to have, but other avenues are essential really.
We want snapcraft to be as streamlined and elegant as possible. To that end, we’d like to share some useful tips and tricks that can make your snap dev journey pleasant and effective.
@alatiera@ted@milan We discuss these changes with GNOME Software devs, and work with GNOME devs all the time. Don't think we don't know the world in which we work.
@ted@milan I agree that they shouldn't be coloured at all, or should be neutral. We recently did a lot of design work on GNOME Software - much of which is submitted for review and discussion on the GS gitlab. We presented different ways to show these fields. We will never please the fanatical FSF subscriber, but we can allow users to make informed decisions.
@KekunPlazas@ted@milan Better for whom? The person who actually wants to join their team on a Slack call, or wants to sync their data with others on the same platform? I'm not about to get into an argument about Free vs Non Free software on a social media platform at 1am in my holiday thanks.
@ted@milan Sure, I understand why it's done. Now we start a conversation about defining "better". A bug ridden free software app is always "better" than a functional and beautiful proprietary one? We show the license type / text so users are empowered to make the choice. We don't judge. Putting a red mark implies "bad", and we didn't like that. (for the record, I filed the bug to get it changed from red to green)
@ted@milan To fix implies it's broken, which it isn't. It's a button in GTK land. We use the same colour for the channel button above it. Upstream chose to colour it red, we chose not to do that.
A new User Error is out featuring myself, @JoeRessington and @DanielFore . In which we get festive about lying to children, discuss the command-line and our personal hair care regimen. Yes, really. I know.
Every other app on my phone can connect to services fine, including Facebook and Messenger. Facebook Pages however never has been able to. Very odd. (Comments about leaving Facebook to /dev/null)
@paolo@nextcloud Hey @Wimpress why does nobody read my blog post? :( I specifically called out that some people use dropbox I can't force them not to. :(. I also mentioned that I use NextCloud and Syncthing. :( Should I put it in ALL CAPS OR BOLD MAYBE?
@kev As I outlined in the post it's not convenient to "just quit" as there are other people involved. I already migrated away to Syncthing, so I only use Dropbox for those half-dozen people who are still on Dropbox.
