On day 4 of the meditation retreat I gave a note to my zendo neighbor, thanking her for putting up with my endless fidgeting and letting her know that her stillness inspired me.
In the closing circle, she shared how on her most difficult day, she got a small note from someone which totally upended her perspective, allowing her to integrate what she needed from her struggle and find a state of deep peace.
We can never know what even the smallest act of kindness will mean to someone else.
In case you wonder how to access a #gopher server, it's very simple, open a terminal and use the venerable 'telnet' program. For example:
$ telnet zaibatsu.circumlunar.space 70
Then once you're in, type '/' and hit return. You'll see a list of paths starting with '/'. For example, '/about'. Type that and you get the "about" message, etc.
@flugennock If it's one thing I want people to realize about racists and supremacists it's that they are cowards. The lot of them.
They're not some band of master minds and thinkers. They're a bunch of bitches that are allowed to exist because of the absurd amount of tolerance America has for white violence and hate.
@witchfynder_finder idk, thankfully most of the anarchists I know are not preoccupied with religion (except when it’s used as an excuse for cruelty, coercion, etc.).
I found a really cool website when I was looking for resources on Native American culture last week: https://native-land.ca/ If you're in North America, you can look up your city & see which tribe the land traditionally belongs to.
@alcinnz Directed acyclic graphs and Merkle Trees are awesome. Blockchain and the right libertarians that fantasize about the billions they’ll make with it (often by literally destroying our habitat via proof of work) can fuck right off.
@ekaitz_zarraga@aral@alcinnz what kills me about listening to the unknowing about blockchains is that most of the features they are excited about come from a DHT, not a blockchain.
@aral@alcinnz Blockchains have much more things than Merkle Trees that are actually awesome. The capitalistic dream part is just bullshit, but I'd say most parts of bitcoin (or even ethereum and others) are a great source of inspiration. I had to learn about them for a course I gave and, damn, this is much more interesting (and complex!) than I thought.
@jjg Same here. I've been on the lookout for boards with built in power management. Pocketbeagle has it but no ports or connectors so you'd have to add your own. Olinuxino Lime2 does and has jst connector plus a number of other ports and costs more.
