@katiekats @maiyannah The one post I read sounded to me like it was carefully phrased as "[there was some unclear communication *shrug*]" and she had some restrained bitterness but mostly about the unpredictability toward the community.
@quad @lain @ivesen My parents are so Christian they're not even in the Swedish Church (because they're in an independent church), so I wasn't an automatic member of any church. Thanks, mom and dad!
@quad @lain @ivesen Wow, that's impressive. In Sweden the Swedish Church insists on a paper signed by hand. IIRC some atheists offered a convenient digital service for a while, which was accepted by some parishes, but since then the Church centrally has put down its foot and clarified what its official view on the regulations is.
@ivesen@lain i literally googled "statskirken", clicked the first link and there was a huge box saying "log in with BankID to Join or Leave the state church"
it's easy as piss

TL;DR: "I hereby waive any right to request any erasure" is obviously not valid and if #GDPR does indeed apply to e.g. git, which it probably does, we just can't use Merkle trees in the EU any more, if they contain any traces of PII.
Is my account code on bitcoin PII? If I posted it on my blog, I don't see why it wouldn't be.
Has someone ever posted their bitcoin account code on their blog? Heh.
@seanl That's all nice and principled. But at the same time all our businesses and software are surrounded by people who want to comply with laws, and people who want to enforce them.
You can disagree philosophically with the source of ethics all you want, but as a matter of fact any software you write that risks throwing your users in jail or fining them is software that you end up writing for yourself and your half-dozen best friends.
Starting Wednesday, May 23rd, you will not have any access to your gitlab.com, over ssh or otherwise, until you have accepted these changes.
That's annoying, but what it signals is worse. If GDPR affects append-only logs we're in trouble all over the place. See https://social.coop/@gdorn/100067771906542790 for an initial discussion on git.

Sometimes I wonder if people even know what anarchist means. Or if they bother to read people's profiles and previous posts before @ing them with the word "actually".
