@h @jjg let me know how it goes! I'm a sceptic but have found it freakily interesting...

@h @jjg Philip K. Dick used it to write The Man in the High Castle
@h @jjg you can think of it as a semi-random trope generator
Aside from keeping patched and up-to-date, what are your tips and techniques for staying secure on Android device?
Somebody mentioned here recently that Google has a scary grip over the technologies underlying how we build/use the internet and mentioned Google Fonts (among other things). This got me a little spooked but also made me more conscious of how I use fonts and the fonts I should be using/supporting.
Can anybody link me to good resources for how I should be setting up fonts for web, and just nice, pleasing (#FOSS?) fonts I can use for personal computing?
The capitalists and legislators are in bed with corporations, so you can't expect them to starve or regulate them.
Best, *we* can do is to stop relying on them and feeding the machine, first with our labour, and second through consumption. Only way to do that is to create and actually use alternative economic systems.
Can I emphasize one more time how cool Blokada is?
You don't know it but your phone is *full* of trackers. It's not better than the web. I thought that we don't have any tools to deal with it - after all, it's not a browser. But turns out there are!
Blokada works as a VPN but locally. It has a blacklist (which you can change) and it just blocks all connections to trackers or ads. It works wonderfully.
Of course Google wouldn't let it in the Play Store.

Instance building. My priority now: Code of Conduct.
@h @jjg maybe a throw of the i ching could give you a suggestion of how to get there
I've always liked this idea
https://archive.org/details/NomadicEcoVillages
I'm involved in travellingtoolbox.org.uk
I've also got a #solar power generator trailer (panels and batteries)
My partner runs thebookshelf.org.uk
So we already have the nomadic eco village
#hackerspace #library and power station π
@kittybecca @idmyn I just woke up from a dream where I was explaining https encryption
This is great π
Password manager autofill in Android Oreo is so convenient
@amphetamine @cocoron or maybe we can break the word down and explain from there.
solar: we have this bonanza of free energy from the sun, and it's enough to provide a good quality of life for everyone if we manage and distribute it well enough. but it's not an infinite supply to fuel exponential growth for its own sake.
punk: the system we have now is not nearly as equitable or fair as it should be. some people get rich, more get oppressed and dumped on. so we fight to end this and do better
