you: i can see where youre coming from. but your plan to hack into the banking system and set everybodys bank balance to $69,420 would not actually create communism
the party that has the mandate to govern was in coalition talks with two other parties, which broke down, over the FDP (neolibs) insistence on some weirdly racist shit
now there's gonna be more talks - which is perfectly fine, we can do a little longer as-is. possibilities include reopening of talks (somewhat likely), talks in a different constellation (equally likely), minority gov. (eeeeh idk) snap elections (popular, but not _yet_ likely)
it occurs to me that in the site rules it says "you can report rule violations via e-mail" which is a 90% pointless thing to say now that a report function is a thing that exists
(also, addendum to that #under1000 toot: we're at 700-odd users, but we've been around for a while - a lot of these are inactive, people who tried mastodon once, or moved to other instances, or alts. Really we're maybe 20 to 30 daily active users.)
In the spirit of m.s briefly breaking down: hey, we here at icosahedron.website are also #under1000 , and I've opened regs again for a bit
we're a general-purpose instance of dubious stability, with me and @dotUser for admins, and will probably never be particularly large because whenever I feel the page is responding too slowly or like, three people sign up in a single day, I panic and close registrations!
Also, we're responsible for the hacker letters. Sorry about that.
@HTHR this is extremely weird because like, changing names is a thing people do all the darn time, colleague here has done it and it was not in any way a problem to get the name updated everywhere in the system and have the e-mail set up with a redirect, so really what the heck is that school on about
@wilkie the whole way this works in the US is so ???? to me because like, I'm doing a phd in germany and it's a well-paid job. and even for less well funded majors it's still a job just often very part time so less money
