Like, for an empire with hundreds of planets, each home to billions, you‘d just expect an existential threat to be met by a military with more than a handful of ships and soldiers, right?
One thing about Perry Rhodan that I like is that it does not mess around with space battles. Like, a normal-sized battle will have tens of thousands of ships, each hundreds of meters to several kilometers in size fielded on either side, often ending with loss of life in the hundred thousands to millions. Really feels like it‘s huge galactic empires at war, rather than the smallish-looking skirmishes you get in, say, star wars or star trek.
@theoutrider considering that in Perry Rhodan space battles are regularly hundreds of the 2 to 3 kilometer diameter ships plus tons more of the 300 to 800 meter diameter types, "space dinghy" is about right for the small ones
@theoutrider in the last perry rhodan issue they had a spaceship (500m in diameter) that was a ship's boat of a larger (3000m diameter) spaceship, but itself ALSO had several ship's boats (60m in size) which then each ALSO had one ship's boat (12m). It's boats all the way down.
still solving important computer problems such as "wrapping text that contains both unicode and ansi escapes, for display on a character-cell terminal"
somehow no code exists in the world that does this properly. to begin with code either handles one or the other. and then on top of that the code that exists has bugs.
