https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRON_project please read the wikipedia page about TRON OS and then afterwards tell me if you feel like you now know what the heck TRON OS even is
like, it's an OS specification like POSIX? Maybe? with a sub-specification called ITRON of which an implementation might actually exist? And it uses its own character encoding ("TRON") and is licensed under the "T-License" which is god I have no idea

@jk @posit oh also obviously the correct choice is TRON OS which is a microkernel OS which may or may not exist

@jk @posit I've always wondered if plan 9 is like mostly known because people make jokes about it or if people actually like, use it

@h I was going to do something like have an "x(pand) (some toot)" command that displays the toot plus context in the scratch buffer, essentially like in the web UI, just not sure how to deal with the fact that context is bidirectional. Maybe some kind of highlighting helps.

@h (right now, I'm mostly trying to get the REPL to be nice enough that I'd actually want to use it, then it's back to making the output better)

@h right now the output is fairly barebones. there isn't a way to look at replies yet, but I definitely want one (though I'm not sure how to do that nicely yet)

@chr reading eye movements are so weird anyways like it's not a smooth scanning but instead rapidly jumping around and ? ? ?

@bea @kepstin like, the scrollback buffers go up to 999 (100 seemed too few) before wrapping so I have four spaces there

@bea @kepstin 4 is just kind of convenient for the layout, honestly

@kepstin @bea you can, but I needed a compact, single line representation here. I did consider using the bg colour also to go up to 8 colours, but I don't think it makes things clearer much
