Like, I don’t think you understand how bad it is on Mars and how difficult and expensive terraforming is, right? Compared to that, fixing our huge climate change problem is peanuts.

People who think terraforming and inhabiting Mars is a viable alternative to improving a sucky situation here on Earth where there are cute turtles and birds and cats and what are those things, seabags… JELLYFISH, like, no, let’s stay here and make it nice, it’s great.

actually the thing about mastodon that keeps hitting me is that it's a return to the governance model of the internet of the 90s, which is the "local dictator", with a single admin or a small mod team who are the sole owners and operators of a site. and like, oh right, anybody who's only used, say, twitter and facebook and youtube and tumblr and myspace and so forth and so on would have had absolutely no exposure to, because all major social media platforms online for the past ten years or so have been huge corporate monoliths (or wannabe huge corporate monoliths). getting mad at brad on livejournal was a very different thing than getting mad at jack on twitter or david karp on tumblr, because lj was brad's site in a way that was very different from jack being CEO of twitter

Two great things you can do to make the fediverse more diverse and interesting:

1) USE LOTS OF HASHTAGS. It's not spammy! It helps people find stuff they're interested in, since the search is intentionally limited to tags to prevent abuse.

2) BOOST THE GOOD STUFF. It gets it into new federated timelines, which is vital for smaller instances with fewer connections. It also helps with hashtag searches, since they only bring up toots known to your instance via follows and boosts.

@patdavid @GIMP Jeez, 2018 will really come as one of the most historic years for libre graphics software. Krita 4.0, Godot 3.0, Blender 2.8 (coming this year), Kdenlive refactored version (coming soon), and now Gimp 2.10, all super major releases ! I've never seen such a synchronized leap ! Are all the planets in the solar system aligned or what's going on ?

The @GIMP have just released 2.10 to the world! Six years of hard work and improvements are all wrapped up and now available! Congratulations to the GIMP team for all of their hard work and dedication to bring us such a great project!
