@archer72 Here's my worflow, if it helps.

0. find a vid on youtube, click the SHARE link for a mostly sane-looking URL (example https://youtu.be/Vir5UJp2Alc)

1. get download options with youtube-dl:
$ youtube-dl -F https://youtu.be/Vir5UJp2Alc

2. download the one I want:
$ youtube-dl -f 249 https://youtu.be/Vir5UJp2Alc

@archer72 YouTube-DL is my vote. It just makes things so easy.

@h4ck3r9 Yeah, I often muse that KDE is *so* configurable that sometimes it takes an afternoon (or a series of afternoons of use-case analysis) to rein it in so it only has what a user wants.

There's an old blog post someplace that I wrote on how to make KDE look and feel a little bit more Mac-like. Not sure if it might appeal. If you're interested, I can try to dig it up and put it somewhere you can access it.

As for KDE not shutting down, make sure user is in the 'power' group. Here are the groups my default user is in:
users lp wheel floppy audio video cdrom plugdev power netdev scanner

Not sure why copy/paste wouldn't work. Make sure your wife is using the same file manager between operations; maybe even remove Thunar and Konqueror so that Dolphin is the only choice.

@lindsays I used https://wordpress.org/plugins/cbxwpsimpleaccounting/ for an anarchist bookshop once. Our needs were pretty simple, not sure what double entry means, so not even sure if this qualifies.
