Any A/V geeks on fedi who can recommend a mini preamp that can support a 3.5 mm input as well as RCA? I'm looking for something to run my turntable and Chromecast Audio through. Right now they connect to my wife's Bose Wave system through the AUX port (I've got a cheap a/b switch to alternate the input source). But, without a preamp I need to crank the volume waaay up and I'm missing full stereo sound (one side is so quiet that it's almost absent...not sure if it's the right or the left).
Is it still acceptable to watch Christmas movies after Christmas day? What about listening to the music?
I was surprised the mall was still playing Christmas music yesterday, but it was kind of nice. A decent number of people here celebrate Orthodox Christmas, rather than Dec. 25, so it makes sense for that reason, too.
Can't seem to add people to lists via Tusky, even though I can create new lists in the app. I also can't seem to add people from a mobile browser. Wtf?
Similarly, the greatest tragedy of Disney/Lucasfilm retconning all the expanded universe books is that the story of Wedge and Rouge Squadron is no longer canon.
My wife got me a copy of #Shadowrun Anarchy for xmas, as well as a set of the most swank D&D dice I've ever seen. I don't have the heart to tell her that Shadowrun uses D6s pretty much exclusively.
I'm finally catching up on my "Watch later" queue and this ContraPoints video is surprisingly relevant to my life right now. What is the new, positive male role model? Some ideas were tossed around in a thread earlier today, but just saying names of men who exhibit positive masculinity is maybe not enough... Can we, like, make a list of traits or something (recognizing that the traits will likely not be exclusively male and that's definitely OK)? https://youtu.be/S1xxcKCGljY
@MadestMadness I don't even have any examples that haven't been mentioned, but I feel like this is a very important thread, for trans and cis men alike. Maybe especially cis men since we're so socialized toward toxic masculinity basically since birth and it's hard to unlearn.
Hey, so it's not too difficult to find games, movies, comics, etc that specifically depict powerful female protagonists and/or trans women because these works tend to specifically be labeled as such.
I have a friend, who is a trans man, that's trying to find works that depict inspiring male role models. He's trying to find works to better help him understand positive masculinity. Does anyone have any ideas?
@mpjgregoire@bgcarlisle And CP Style is what I use at work, so now I feel like I need to retrain myself to spell it "tuque." This is rocking my world! :waldo:
