Who is using the BB ubuntu beta (or wherever it is at)? Thoughts on current stability?
-
ok, as I expected. It doesn't look like you voted...thanks for the repeat :)
-
and for those of you on Mastodon, I sorry if you can't see the poll or the thread.

@wolftune @sndchaser @thelovebug@s.wefamlee.be @kevie @kevie @kevie trying to get some thoughts on my contributions to !ccmusic I guess the thing is about learning Spanish that Spanish speakers can just start their own podcast like Music Manumit if they want. Then again, I don't know that anyone is going to do that, and if they did, people would miss out. It just seems like I don't get a lot out of being in the !fediverse these days nor out of CC Music. I know the fediverse has changed. Mastodon has helped some, but the incompatibilities are frustrating. I know other people have their own issues. I thought not commuting to St. Paul would help me feel more energized about the work I do. I think I've definitely gotten more done, but I'm still a months behind where I want to be. It just seems like every day is a struggle. The fix is easy in some respects: just quit. It's something I've worked so hard on for so long though. Please share this with anyone else involved in CC Music.

one thing I've noticed is my vote from loadaverage doesn't show up here.
-
it's weird, I couldn't...maybe though it was because no one had voted? Or maybe you can see it when not logged in but once you log in you can vote?
-
can people on Mastodon see my poll?
-
so, what if you want #vagrant to use your local VMs? Is that not a thing?

"The only thing you know about FTP is how it's spelled" -- https://zerodayexploits.bandcamp.com/releases omg, dying. !ccmusic

I'm not sure the Bailey's at lunch was a good idea. There is so much alcohol here. Eclipse is not really what I want to be doing right now.
-
I feel like I'd get more out of just creating VMs than learning vagrant, but meh.

This works, but not on sites behind a password: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/google-text-to-speech/reviews/

It seems like something I could use in my other projects, but that means significant time away from those projects. Music Manumit is booked for a while, and I don't know that there's anything pressing for blocSonic. #CCMA is the real bottleneck. Thanks for the feedback. We'll see what others say.
also, the comment about the fediverse is just because it's so hard to get people to use the same thing. Some people are on facebook, some on slack, some on GNU Social, some on twitter. I don't have time to go everywhere.

I think you can't see results until you vote.

Decided to start having my computer read me these docs. Does Firefox do that out of the box? Currently having Word do it.

It's a bit of a bummer that you can't put any explanation of why you are answering the question or address any questions you are sure are going to come up. Ultimately, the lack of translators is a huge problem for CCMA and Music Manumit being cross-cultural. It seems like the community is not ready for CCMA, but maybe that's just because I'm here and not on the CC slack all the time. CC USA told me they are focused on open education and not music which is a statement of the obvious. I guess it's a biased crowd here, but asking nonetheless. !ccmusic !ccmsc

My network speeds on my desktop are slow. Laptop is fine. All updates on #ubuntu 17.10...I'm using XFCE but cat /etc/*lease just says ubuntu, so I don't know. I think the laptop is running 17.04, but I just turned it off. If that's useful, happy to check.
Anyway, any thoughts on things to check? Could it be meltdown related? I suspect my cat may have damaged the antennae. Is there a way I could test throughput of the hardware?

I doubt this is going to help, but if you don't want to work on a Google spreadsheet, here's the spreadsheet we are using. Please let me know if you want to help out by contacting any of the countries so I can update the online version. It should be set up so you don't need a Google account, so https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B4ATgcZME6Avv6XmkF8vEJ6kCq93MuRrLCzFqyOc0gU/edit#gid=0 if you want to save me even more time. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/116941

I don't think people are going to want to do it on July 14 (netlabel day) if we do a calendar year, but bring it up in general and see what people want to do net year.
