@ink_slinger Yup. You could buy anything in The Ship or in the Marina on your meal card, and smoking was still allowed and commonplace. Cigarettes were only sold in vending machines if I recall so those were cash only I think (I never smoked so I'm not sure).

A few residents even lived on Kraft Dinner and Ramen to maximise their buying power in The Ship, to the point they started showing symptoms of scurvy 🤣

@ink_slinger I lived in Lister Hall for all but the last year I was at the U of A. The rez experience back then provided an an ample amount of um...social interaction for my lifetime!

@ink_slinger I'm not really missing the festivities to be honest. I'm a light drinker and socially distant by nature :blobcheeky:

@puzzled I got her some fresh peanuts this morning so hopefully her mood improves a bit 🤞

@thatgeoguy my main accomplishment today was actually completed in the 2 hours I was in the office, issuing VPN keys on an air gapped machine to be distributed to coworkers that didn't already have them.

Apart from that my WFH experience was admin paperwork and a bit of tech support. I expect my "work" to be less productive than my hobbies in the coming weeks.

@puzzled maybe *that* is why my elephant has been so disagreeable :blobthinking:

@ink_slinger I had similar thought about going to the gym for some boxing, but that was a very obvious thing to cancel under the circumstances too 😂

@puzzled we're hoping for a speedy recovery. His injuries are healing quite well overall, though there have been a couple of complications, ironically brought on by the recovery process (being in bed for a long time, drug side effects...)

This afternoon/evening went very well though.

Tomorrow I have a part day in the office to prep for home work. Then will have a long stretch at home.

...that said I'm hoping I can make the best of it. More time at home means more time to get the server upgrades I want to do done for good, and work on some programming and hardware project ideas I have not had the bandwidth to do...

And maybe do some good deeds for others...

And keep my mind off the crappy situation from time to time.

Haven't shared this with many but 2 weeks ago my 83 year old father had an accident at home and suffered bad head trauma, cracked ribs and injuries to his right arm and leg. He has been in the hospital since.

Now that there has been a reported community infection here not only am I going to be working at home, probably on reduced hours/pay, hospital visitations are going to be severely restricted.

This is going to be difficult...

@krruzic @natecull the printing experience in Firefox and Chrome can be aptly described as "dumb and dumber". Sometimes I have to resort to difficult to use external tools.

It has a lot to do with the content creators neglecting print media, but the browser folk aren't helping.

Well... looks like I'll be telecommuting myself based on Mayor Nenshi's press conference...

Anyways, @thatgeoguy I'm accustomed to how operators in many plant control rooms tend to set their lighting, which often resemble how museum exhibits are lit lol.

This combines with picking fonts on the larger side and not using bright colours on-screen. I find that very bright lighting can either cause glare or make the screen difficult to look at if behind the screen. But some natural light is nice.
