Not only that, the parties are both instances (or, should I say, their admins) *and* users. Even if instances/admins hold firm, users might jump ship.
Also, it would only take one instance to bridge the “real” fediverse with the VCverse, right? The VC(s) could put up inconspicuous custom instances to smuggle traffic in both directions, turning a VCverse boycott into Whac-a-Mole.
