@maryjane @Maltimore I completely agree. That's also my main point. AppImage encapsulates the program nicely in one binary, portable, easy to deploy, remove, etc. While Flatpak seems to establish a new (although more independent) package management but still with the whole dependency hell and a huge amount of flatpak packages which needs to be installed along the actual app.

@vinzv I used ClawsMail before for many years and always liked its flexibility. I was really surprised that I can have all the customization with Evolution as well (beside some small really specific things). But I'm happy to give up on them for all the other advantages. Also the ability to access Maildir's directly is a huge plus, because I'm used to sync my mails with mbsync for offline usage.

If someone would have told me a few months ago that I would write something like this I would call them totally crazy. But I really got used to #Evolution with all the integration with calendar, contacts, tasks, #Nextcloud,... Great email client, though a UI refresh to be more #GNOME3-ish would be awesome.

@frumble Bei dem Backup geht es aber nur um deine Nachrichten. In früheren Versionen konnte man beim Backup auch die Schlüssel exportieren und auf ein neues Gerät umziehen. Das geht seit einiger Zeit nicht mehr, keine Ahnung warum. Ist aber ziemlich blöd wenn man bei jedem Wechsel des Geräts alle verifizierte Kontakte verliert.

@hahnor Neue Major Versionen werden immer inkrementell frei gegeben so das im Fall eines schweren update Bugs dieser nicht alle betrifft. Wir die Chance haben diesen zu fixen, eine .0.1 release zu machen und dann die Version an weitere Leute auszurollen. Nächste Woche werden wir wohl den Kreis derer die Nextcloud 15 angeboten bekommen signifikant erhöhen.

@teascade no, it is our responsibility to use our knowledge and influence to shape the cloud in a freedom respecting way. The same way we did it with "home computing" when we were young, by inventing the concept of Free Software instead if yelling at modern computers and refuse to use them.
