RMS/ESR/etc. are very deeply flawed, and rather unsuitable as figureheads for their ideas.

this doesn't mean software freedom is somehow bad, and it doesn't mean we should frame social movements as being fundamentally at odds with it by association.

I am extremely suspect of people (esp. on birb) sowing discontent with such broad scope.

it's extremely useful for tech corporations if the core principles of copyleft get dragged through the mud. let's not align with them either.

if you understand why someone might have a disinclination to participate in reddit, twitter, facebook, etc. because you don't want to support a shitty company's platform (that you don't even want to use) with your own authorship effort and emotional energy, then you also understand part of the disinclination of libre software developers to invest the frankly ridiculous amount of effort it takes to make their usually-gratis passion project work well on microsoft platforms.
