@bob This neural netty stuff sounds great on one level but you can't reason about it, have no idea how it works (comes up with the answers it does) or know how it'll perform with unexpected input outside of its training set. May not be an issue for some applications I guess.

@clacke Kinda like SOAP - the S originally stood for Simple till it looked ironic. (And that brings up memories of CORBA...) People who aren't "enterprise" and who can't afford the massive amounts of engineering required to make this stuff work well tend to drift off to other, simpler protocols which cover 80-90% of the use cases with less hassle.

@moonman Bummer. I've had hardware RAID controllers go south on me before so for non-performance critical applications (data storage) I tend to favor software RAID these days. If I need speed for processing I use a fast local disk. Hardware RAID only makes sense to me for databases, which have to be redundant *and* fast but for most of my other applications those properties are mutually exclusive.

To call the documentation for OpenLayers sparse would be an understatement. If you want folks to use your stuff, document it ffs.

@h @bob  Reminds me of that silly robot machine gun post in the Alien 2 film. Just present enough decoy targets to exhaust its ammo, then...
