    nobody in general wants to admit that these new technologies are scary, that they're scared of them. because they don't want to think about how scary they are, but also fear is weakness, and our culture does not tolerate any form of weakness. you're supposed to show resolve, don't let it bother you!! be macho in the face of the drone swarm!!!!!!!!

    @englebright @tomharris i feel like not only do i need brackets to show what syntactic level i'm on, but i use so many metaphors that i need some other form of punctuation to indicate what semantic level i'm currently on??? and paragraphs don't really work because they're linear rather than a tree structure

    @espectalll i have seen situations in the past where i'm watching a channel for months/years, and suddenly they do a video that gets success, and they then reorient the whole channel to just make that kinda video over and over rather than their original style. which is sometimes good, if their new style is better than the old one, but sometimes it's not!

    turns out that whatever it is i upgraded reset the contents of /etc/fonts to the default. why?? who knows

    /etc/fonts, if you are not aware, has the weirdest way of configuring shit (by which i mean, bad, since i only understood what the fuck was going on because i'd already had to troubleshoot an issue with it 6 months ago), you have all of these xml files and they have names like 70-no-bitmap-fonts or 70-yes-bitmap-fonts and to enable bitmap fonts you copy the file from one folder to another

    @djsundog when i was about 11 i borrowed a laptop from my neighbour and it had windows 95 installed on it, and a cartoon Angus Young Desktop Buddy. you could click on him and he'd let u send email, like clippy or soethinng. but cliippy couldnt do a duckwalk

    i wish i could annotate my code with more than just comments, when youve got more than a couple thousand lines of code it just ceases to be memorable, it all looks the same!!!!! i want to be able to paint things specific colors, arrange all the blocks of code on a big 2D canvas, draw shapes around them, etc.
