I should have said what platform I was on, that was silly of me. I mostly use desktop Linux, and Tootle runs nicely as a flatpak. I'd like to have a central location to check all my Fediverse things, other than a web browser. A notification of any new comments on Peertube videos would be helpful, but maybe that'll be added in later. But I am also trying out Fedilab on Android and it seems great! :)

Exactly! One of these days, I trust. :) -

Fedilab looks pretty nice! I'd like a desktop version too, but I'm giving it a go on my tablet. Thanks for the recommendation! -

I like Tootle and Pinafore quite well, but wish I could add my Peertube account along side the Mastodon ones. I've looked, but haven't found anything thus far.

Interesting thought! I wouldn't put it past them. And how do they not have options beyond M/F at this point? Come on. That's just absurd.

I honestly don't get why there's such a huge gender imbalance. No doubt there are a ton of cultural factors, but the Linux community has been welcoming and friendly to me. Nerd elitism was the biggest barrier I felt.Granted, I don't start every comment with "I'm a girl and..." because it's not relevant. But I haven't gotten anything more serious than a little confusion and a "where's your boyfriend?" vibe when I showed up solo at Linux Fest.

Well, I watch your videos on peertube. 😀And don't sign into youtube generally anyway. But, I'd sure like more fellow Linux ladies!

C.Cameron (cameron@linuxrocks.online)'s status on Sunday, 27-Jan-2019 14:44:17 EST C.Cameron I sort of know how to use git now! I moved my lil nerd web site to Gitlab pages, using Hugo. It's taken a minute to get used to commits and such, but it seems to be working. (Small victories for non-programmers! 😺 )

Yes, that's true. So many different angles to the psychology of it. I find the distractions the hardest part. But that negativity is a bummer for everyone, even if you aren't involved in comment fights and "hot takes."It's weird that we're the generation(s) that get to try to navigate this whole new landscape and try to stay sane. :)

C.Cameron (cameron@linuxrocks.online)'s status on Friday, 25-Jan-2019 19:51:57 EST C.Cameron Yes, that makes sense. I wonder how much energy and time is really lost in context switching. Probably way more than I/we expect.
Sometimes I wish I had a different computer for each computer activity, because you can do so many different things with one machine. With a book you can only read it, you can't check your mail, your bank balance and the news all at once. It's weird for my little human brain.

C.Cameron (cameron@linuxrocks.online)'s status on Friday, 25-Jan-2019 16:12:23 EST C.Cameron Do you think social media undermines creativity, because you send out your ideas in little bits, rather than gathering them up in a whole big work?
I don't know, but I wonder about the effect of these things on how our noggins work.
