You know how you can persuade yourself and others that you're not drinking a bottle of vodka a day by starting with an inch of vodka in the bottle and ending with an inch of vodka in the second bottle (Look: still some left!)? Much easier to just keep a near-empty bottle in front of the bottle(s) you're drinking from. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ0M2f8jqag F**k me. Where's it going to end?

'The great advantage of privatising the railways was that rail companies would have to be competitive, and […] throughout this time, getting out of Brighton station has been harder than securing a passage out of Casablanca in the film. You CAN get out, but you have to find a man in a fez behind a stall, who says “I can get you to Crawley my friend but you must give me keys to your house.”' #q Mark Steel http://microblog.mjd.id.au/url/18369

Damnit. Zephyr Teachout lost NY Attorney General to a Clinton Democrat. This is important because a sitting president can only pardon people who have federal - not state - convictions, and the dwindling pool of tight-lipped co-conspirators live and work a stone's throw from #Trump Tower.

@tregeagle Personally, I use it to weather all the indignities inflicted upon me by people with no inner life whatsoever, and who are to be more pitied than scolded. Then I go home to sit in my floating pudding basin, drink too much, and listen to silly podcasts. Other definitions of dignity are available.

Dear sub-editor, I read the headline "John Lewis Christmas advert: Elton John reportedly paid £5m to star in 2018 edition" to mean "_has_ reportedly paid" rather than "_was_ reportedly paid". The omission of three letters made the article seem much more scandalous than it turned out to be, and leaves you open to accusations of clickbaiting. I for one was certainly disappointed. Please amend. http://microblog.mjd.id.au/url/18244

Ha. Found a near-subliminal cameo by Eric Idle in the promo video for George Harrison's Crackerbox Palace single. More prominent is Neil Innes of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band (and honorary Python in the last series after Cleese left), and many Python props/costumes, such as the Pantomime Princess Margaret. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ac34Khe-fc http://microblog.mjd.id.au/attachment/18207

Extraordinary thing: At #work this afternoon a gentleman customer of advanced years (false teeth, melanomas where his hair used to be, etc.) sought my attention by firmly slapping my backside as I was bending to reach a low shelf. I felt ever so slightly sexually harassed. #FirstSexProblems
