If you’re a New Yorker, a person who votes, and a registered Democrat, check your district primaries today because there’s a lot of progressive, anti-ICE candidates looking to overturn centrist and conservative dems at the House level.

NYC elections are decided at the primaries because whoever wins the dem nod is nearly guaranteed to win the general. If you vote at all, this election is actually the one that will decide who goes to Congress more than the one in November.

If it wasn’t an accident, the non-apology from her spokesperson reads like it was spoken with a forked tongue for the express purpose of being read two ways. Directed at the respectability obsessed liberals and dems, it’s to shame them for such “shallow” concerns as clothing, but for the Nazi fuckers who love this shit, it reads as “That’s right, no HIDDEN message— she said it right there out in the open, ha ha ha ha ha ha!”

I haven't said anything about this, not because I'm not following, not because I don't care, but because once I saw that that twisted, evil shit Jeff Sessions had actually used the phrase "permanent solution," I descended into such utter despair that I didn't even have the capacity to comment on it.

Social media has largely destroyed those outlets, as everyone has their profile on a place where they talk about everything, and are expected to be their whole, authentic, or at least “branded” self, and that’s not only not sustainable, it’s NOT HOW WE INTERACT IN “REAL LIFE.” You are not the same parts of yourself with everyone you know. And that’s not only ok, that’s GOOD AND RIGHT.

@aparrish And it would have been so easy to be forgiving of it, like, “Oh, well, no one had ever really seen fascism at the time so he wasn’t aware of all the problems with it,” and instead they explained that he wasn’t aware of SOME of the problems with it (genocide, secret police, etc.) but fully embraced it BECAUSE of the myriad other problems with it— brutal violence, authoritarianism, hard breaks with folk traditions in favor of nationalism, derision of the feminine.

@aparrish One of the things they did a really good job of in that exhibition (and this is always a difficulty problem with curation, and one they often just sidestep) was putting the work in that context, and also explaining the ways in which Marinetti was a) kind of an outlier among the futurists in that particular regard, and b) had no real comprehension of the political ramifications but liked the BIG DADDY POWER element of fascism because he was a giant misogynist.
