Because I’m always amazed at the breadth of knowledge represented here on Mastodon, I’m throwing this out— does anyone have any recommendations for resources into Turkic mythology or even contemporary tengrism? Specifically looking for information on modes of worship, prayer, rituals, etc.
@jessmahler I am using them, and thank you! I didn't take the tutorial (because I never read instructions until, you know, I absolutely have to), so thank you so much for the advice. 😁
So, I started using Scrivener and now have absolutely no idea what my word count is outside of the individual parts I’m working on, but I wrote ~1,200 words today and it felt gooood.
The character I’m writing at the moment has been mentioned a few times, but getting to know her now has me really excited to introduce her into the whole narrative, and she’s complicated and not necessarily “likable,” but I adore her.
So, I’ve never been much of a stretcher— a) I’m not inherently flexible and b) I’ve had one yoga instructor ever whom I liked, and she was my first and ruined me for all other teachers, who all seemed either like jazzercise Barbie or were white people waaaay into some spirituality that was not their own and made me super uncomfortable.
I’ve been taking a class lately called FLX that is all about stretching and while I totally suck at it, it makes me feel so relaxed.
So I typed out a letter to post to a friend. It included some peculiar glyphs from strange, untamed codepoints way, way out in the Unicode desert and as I was printing it I was like "Gosh, I really hope my friend's software has good Unicode support so's she can read this stuff.." - and then I realised that.. being on paper.. it would in fact look exactly the same to her.. because we're both running the exact same software.. in our *visual cortices*..
@SuzanEraslan It's like reframing. Once I have the power to decide whether or not I'm going to see it (or when/how), what's inside loses power even if it's disturbing.
@ThisQueerBashesBack Oh, wow, that actually sounds exciting, but then I love food and finding good roommates.
I work in real estate in New York, so if you have any questions about buying a place, feel free to hit me up. I like using my knowledge to help people out.
@distelfliege Not sure how mango and peanut butter will go together, but they're both delicious and pb&[fruit] are usually exquisite. Report back, as I'm eager to hear how it goes!
@distelfliege Oooooh, I would absolutely do mango, banana, ginger (if you have a blender that can take the threads, but otherwise it's a good idea to chop it up really finely and just use the juice that results), some cashews, almond or oat milk, spinach for the greens, and then if you have mild curry powder, throw that in. I LOVE curry powder in smoothies-- I do one with banana, peanut butter, and curry powder that is out of this world delicious.
@distelfliege The lime juice is to keep the avocado from turning everything brown-- it won't be overpowering. I would recommend throwing a pinch (or more, if you're inclined) of chili powder into the mix to give it a nice kick and do that lovely mango-chili combo.
