Safe space folk are the facile target, especially given my own sympathies, but I wonder to what extent the nominally free are commited to exchange, versus having their own mutually antagonistic outgroup about which can be said 'we're not like *them*'.

Looks to me like a lot of people along either side of the safe-vs-free axis are pretty invested in perpetuating that axis, or where one stands along it, as a distinguishing feature of their participation, very invested in an othering process and then defining oneself in opposition to that other.

We are truly living in the future when there's an entire television channel where you can watch the GOP build their scaffold for the guillotine.

My neurotypical mom comes to visit today for 5 days.

She’s delightful, but she talks to me nonstop while she’s here, and it makes me extremely overstimulated and irritable by the time she leaves. This is even more of a problem now that I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my partner (instead of a 3 bedroom with 2 roommates), because her “bedroom” is the living room/my office.
