Under communism you don't own your own tooth brush.
Under the capitalism, you may in the near future, no longer own your computer.

@bob @h @KevinCarson1 looks*
@bob @h @KevinCarson1 Yeah, they avoid stepping on the toes of the state telco and stay largely within the legal limits the best they can. And it does have a weakness of relying on a few larger nodes which almost split the network at one point.
It's still interesting though to see this in spite of how restrictive the conditions are.
Wow, Guifinet look impressive.
^Also, @KevinCarson1 you might like this, the largest self-regulating meshnet that aligns with the commons governance models that Ostrom talked about.
Just set a countdown timer for when Twitter screws with the streaming API. Wonder if we'll see a bunch of new users then.
@Shufei You probably know this but, there is way more I could add to that list to be honest.
@Shufei I just feel like telling them that their inaction on these policies are part of the reason why they now have Trump.

@angristan @dirtycommo OH GOD! It's following the progression of American politics!
@Shufei Under Obama there was dead silence on:
Mass surveillance and the power the NSA and 5 eyes had.
Deportations of immigrants by ICE.
A drone program that was killing civilians in the middle east.
Social media manipulation and propaganda.
The bombing of countries by the US and NATO.
Directing funds and arms to extremist groups in civil wars.
Supporting dictators.
Aiding the Saudis in bombing civilians in Yemen.

"The US military is developing software that will let it secretly manipulate social media sites by using fake online personas to influence internet conversations and spread pro-American propaganda."
@schestowitz Well, apparently they are still using some voting machines from 2006 with remote admin software still on them.
@che_1312 Are you still on here?
I have been blocked by cloudflare.
The way they operate just exacerbates the worst possible human traits while also giving a low barrier to entry to just anyone.
I've heard some talking about nationalising platforms like twitter, facebook, youtube and so on.
I've got a better idea, why don't we just abolish them?
@dredmorbius It touches on a little of what contra talks about and some of it reminded me of the discussion you and maiyannah had on intersectionality a while ago.
