I'm looking for FOSS audio software that lets me:

    - Control the queue from multiple devices
    - Support local files, YouTube, SoundCloud, etc as queue items
    - Preferably also allow AirPlay/Chromecast/etc input
    - Stream synchronized audio to multiple WiFi devices

I do realize I probably need to stitch this together using multiple pieces of software.

    Any recommendations?
    Does something similar exist?

I just watched Rouge One for the first time since seeing it in theaters last winter.

I think it's one of my favorite Star Wars movies.

We generally think of the interface between RAM and everywhere else as a security boundary.

    RAM is generally totally trusted.
    Databases, a little trusted.
    Filesystems, a little less so.
    Network packets, totally untrusted.

Note: these trust levels pretty much are completely destroyed by Cloud-hosted compute servers. Cloud RAM should now be 'utterly untrusted'; it lives in the Network, not in Your Data Center.

We have not come anywhere near grasping the implications of this. This will bite us.

Software in the 80s and 90s was called programs. These programs were designed to solve problems. Today each line of code has been commodified into what we call apps. Where the motivation behind programs was solving problems, behind the app is the question, "Will it make money?"

Started learning how to use #Firebase today. Is there a way to set a key for the random ID generated by the "set" call? I'm not sure how to address a single item by a variable... #webdev

Comments seem to be working. Have a rudimentary moderation method set up. No recaptcha because I don't really want to write up a PHP or ruby script. We'll see how it goes...

    1. Massive Cryptomining Campaign Targeting WordPress Sites
      from Wordfence
On Monday we wrote about the massive spike in brute force attacks on WordPress sites that we observed. As reported, it was the most intense period of attacks we had ever recorded. We believe that a single botnet is behind the attacks. We were able to isolate the IP addresses from the botnet and then …

Oh my gosh I just saw on my TL that it's almost solstice. Which means the light begins returning here in the Northern hemisphere. Which means incrementally longer days... slowly ... slowly... but there will be more light! Every year I get happy about this.

And every year come February I feel like it's taking too long.

But then March is good. And April!

Our twins are four months old today, and holidays are approaching, and I thought it would be a good idea to give a little something to someone who could use it. This coming Sunday, I'll buy the "Be a Coder" bundle (https://www.humblebundle.com/books/be-a-coder-books) to someone who needs, and wants it.

If you'd like to have it, or know someone who would, and you (or them) can't buy it, contact me. Either via DM, or e-mail at be-a-coder@gergo.csillger.hu.

Boosting this toot for better coverage is most appreciated!

Most of the web is now unreadable on mobile without disabling JS and without reader view

This wasn’t the accessible, semantic web I was promised in the early 2000s. It’s like everyone fell over themselves to severe ads and forgot what content was
