@hypolite @heluecht I've heard some work is being done to re-write parts of Friendica. Is PostgreSQL support planned in some future? Asking for a friend :)

@jaywink On the contrary, their decision is admirable. Decentralization should be about helping more people learn and use the available tools independently, not about taking one's data from one crowded place and putting it into another one. That would be an illusion of making things better. The software they created and maintain will still be there, so that each community may (hire a local administrator:) and help themselves. I do hope eventually decent p2p networks will make it all much easier.

♲ @hq@socialhome.network: Oh hello, #ActivityPub people
socialhome.network/media/uploa…
We just turned on ActivityPub support at socialhome.network to get more users to test it and thus speed up fixing the remaining issues and bringing better compatibility across other #Fediverse platforms.
PLEASE NOTE, this are a bit alpha still, so in the master branch by default ActivityPub support is off. It can be turned on by setting the environment variable SOCIALHOME_ACTIVITYPUB_ALPHA=True.
Issue reports very much welcome in the issue tracker. git.feneas.org/socialhome/soci… -

@cwebber FOSS has been very good at the "no binary blobs!" kind of freedom, but not very good at the "you can actually use this without special skills" kind of freedom. -

@drq Вы хотели сказать: эта женщина великолепная? :)
Идея отличная. Что касается подачи материала, можно уложить 30 минут в 10 минут.

@dev has made a Telegram to #ActivityPub bridging bot! Seems it even goes both ways!? Would like to see what else can be done with such. The power of bots!

@liaizon Yes, the kind of campaigns that have a potential to reach many people at once would be viral content - i.e. YouTube videos. I've been trying selective targeted PR campaigns for the last 2 years, they didn't result in any significant active users increase.
@heluecht Usability is one big TODO. I agree that explaining this is important. But ATM consistency of features between Fedi platforms is sometimes buggy, and I'm afraid users' expectations of smooth interoperability won't be met.

I'm willing to celebrate each tiny Fediverse growth, but it's important to be realistic.
For the last months we've been mostly crawling along. Perhaps it's time to try out new tactics.

@hypolite Your impressions are similar to mine! (except the final scene I guess) BTW, if you happen to know any other fiction books with annoying protagonists who are both clever and comic, please, let me know :) It's thought-provoking to read fantasy in a true-to-life scientific perspective.

@hypolite I mean, exactly! Did you also think the logical explanations of why the evil-not-evil wizard spent whole chapters reincarnating a girl (what??) and caring about the end of the world were a bit far-fetched? It was refreshing 75% of the time though, before it all became too fantastic.

@drq моего скудного ума не хватает, чтобы оценить высокоинтеллектуальность решения в искуственно лимитированных рамках, при этом игнорируя весь идиотизм последних глав в целом :p

@hypolite It started in a very burlesque style and I hoped this variant of Harry will win using fun / rationality. But he turns out to be the biggest idiot? 🙄 Almost to the end I thought the climax was a joke, and it'll turn out the culprit was someone unexpected, or a minor character, or at least Harry himself (light schizophrenia would be ironic for a genious).

spoiler alert (kind of)!
You've been warned.
Just finished "Harry Potter and methods of rationality". It was sometimes enjoyable.
Also, its author possibly is a crazy, latent maniac.Unbelievable that a rational beginning can have such an irrational ending. :/
