I didn't know he'd been playing the same character since The X Files or earlier. I'd seen him on a few Law & Order episodes, but I didn't even recognize his name or character's name. (See https://nu.federati.net/notice/3421779 )
Oh, the actress who plays Rey! #TIL, and that's probably the one media-related thing I should have already known.
I'm already used to not knowing who a "famous" performer is because I've essentially been away from the world of media since the 1980s, with exceptions in the 1990s for my weekly movie with #sonOne when he was in high school and a year or two when a friend decided to try to catch me up by recording the best TV shows on VHS to play for me during my weekly visits.
> Lots of people are saying great things about him that maybe they should have said sooner.
Yes, they should. He wasn't a great President (too immersed in the details, which is NOT what the job is about); but his post White House work has been awesome. I'd think that even political opponents would have acknowledged this by now.
He lives in a small micro-urban area of #Ohio and it sounds like their #TV and #Internet options are limited. He's trying to figure out how to bring such options to the local residents, given his limited budget.
@scribe Definitely not inevitable; if national governments would do their jobs, it would not even be a very attractive offer.
Once they realized that having most of one's contacts on $NETWORK makes that network much more attractive than competing networks, they should have required interoperability once any network reaches a certain size ... and therefore, if Facebook decided to change a subscription for verification, people could move to a competing network and still reach the same contacts.
