    @fu Unfortunately, most families cannot home school because the adult(s) are too busy working and / or not educationally able. And that's even if they can meet their state's requirements for home schooling.

    So if they cannot pay for private school, they usually have to rely upon public schools.

    In my case, #sonOne got into the public continuation high school and only returned to the regular public high school for the last semester, so he could graduate. #sonTwo and #Daddy_A got into publicly-funded charter schools (and 2nd son also spent one school year doing a home school program through the continuation school when a lung infection prevented attendance). All three had suffered violence at the public schools (high school and middle schools) before getting into alternative programs, so I am definitely in favor of making alternatives available.

    @fu I would expect that owning the parking lot gives one the right to decide what organizations can tell their members / employees / customers to park there. There's probably some law in your state saying that all real estate sales must be properly recorded / registered with the county. It should enable such disputes to be quickly settled. But if it is verifiable that DDA had paid off the purchase price for the property, the lack of a deed should not have been an obstacle ... the parties could go to the office and have the corrected deed issued.

    #GS3: Mommy, Daddy said “Damn it”.

    Backstory: #GS4 (not quite 2 years old) is learning to use the potty. Somehow, he missed and pooped on the floor, then picked it up and put it in the toilet. #sonTwo was cleaning the child and uttered the forbidden words.

    When I heard about it, I seriously laughed out loud, because he told on me when I uttered the same words after bending a fingernail backwards while trying to squeeze his foot (plus fluffy wool socks) into his shoes.

    I've heard some rumors being passed around that the list of chemicals found on the site were not fully documented by the railroad. I have not bothered to check. Is the government going to assess appropriate penalties? No, of course not. The railroads are nationally important. They won't risk harming their profits just to do what is right. (Or they would have forced a more worker friendly labor settlement on them recently.)

    I used to have a friend whose normal schedule was 10 hours per day, 6 days per week (and occasionally 5 hour half-days on Sundays). I always thought he spent way too much time at work.

    That was nearly 40 years ago, and I've often matched his schedule for a few weeks at a time in the years since.

    I think I worked 16 hour days X 7 days a week for six to eight weeks one time. I was pretty exhausted by the time that ended.

    #sonOne says that he, his wife, #GD1, and #GD2 all have #COVID-19, but #GS1, who recently moved back home, has neither symptoms nor has he tested positive for #2019-nCoV / #SARS-CoV-2.

    Also, drove past a tall flagpole atop a hill, flying the #Confederate battle flag. I flipped it off as I drove past, which is the appropriate sign to show to that anti-American hate symbol. *

    Today, I left more than an hour later, and Birmingham #AL traffic was much improved.

    * Some years ago, a cousin who is now believed to be deceased posted the Confederate battle flag with the caption "Heritage, not hate". But I would argue that "we're killing other White people in order to continue enslaving Black people" is pretty much the definition of hate.
