    Ever work side by side with a non-profit group? I don't think I've seen any that are more efficient than government agencies. Most of the larger ones have huge fundraising wings that consume a big chunk of their resources, and then they often have highly paid executives consuming another big chunk. (And that's not counting what happens if your contributions go through United Way first.)

    There were a couple of years in the 1970s where it was so cold in #NYState that the toilets froze in #Buffalo. I remember seeing them on the news. I decided right then and there that I was never going to move to Buffalo #NY.

    @clacke Are you watching a movie or the "Arrow" TV series? #sonTwo used to watch Arrow (so much that he streamed it when he visited #SoCal from his then-current home in #FL).

    I don't think that's the show that the dog got its name from though. I think that was some other series.

    Okay, after sitting for a day, the lower crust is starting to become edible.

    Lesson about the crust recipe … I think it needs quite a bit more than the “up to 1/2 cup of icewater” that it asks for.

    I also think I need deeper pie dishes with an old-style rim around them.

    paying slave wages and requiring us to purchase everything from the company store.

    I made 🍎 apple-cranberry pie 🥧. The filling is delicious 🤤. The crust is too hard. Not burnt, just hard.

    I have been baking from scratch recently. Other than bread 🍞 machine loaves (starting about 2020), I had not baked from scratch since the middle 1970s.

    Got a new phone (new to me, much newer than my old phone, but not something people would have stood in line for in years). Went to activate it and I need to switch SIM cards. And of course, there’s not a paper clip in the house.

    This sort of lawsuit is usually filed by #CA and #NY attorneys general. I have not checked to see whether they did so in this case.
