@wowaname That is exactly how I feel. It's funny how I'm okay with nsfwing images but anxious about cw. Maybe it helps it wasn't pushed onto me with nsfw. We don't have a policy on it but I'm okay with extending the courtesy. I'm not okay when it comes to seeing cw, or having to cw my posts. When you are in anxiety mode or want to speak out with your experiences, cw is the last thing on your mind. People are better off just not following me because I will talk about the hard topics on here. I'm not going to tag it. I see that as hiding it. As it being a shamed thing. :s

@incandescente Fortunely, my home instance doesn't recognise this feature because it came long afterwards. Mastodon introduced the concept while GS/qvitter came before it. I sometimes miss how open and welcoming fedi was prior to all this. It only becomes an issue for me when I have to bounce threads by opening another instance up that uses it. Then my mood dips and I have to exit the page.

@wowaname Yeah. It really triggers my anxiety. I wish it wouldn't but that is the way it goes. Very few people consider those that get triggered by CW's. I would feel very uncomfortable if I were in a space that mostly cw posts. Or if there were all sorts of confusing rules deciding on this. Maybe that is why I picked a very hands-off instance. Even if you don't get it to the same extent, it is nice to speak with someone who can understand. If anything, I am glad you don't experience it in the same way I do. Especially in a space that pushes for that use. :s I wonder how many people like me were put off mastodon instances with these cw terms and left due to this?

@incandescente I'm not stopping people from using them even though I would prefer not to see them. I know why people use them, and I was discussing the side that is in the minority here. Because I am one person, it feels like it doesn't matter since people will still tell me to use them even though it hurts me in the same way that people use CW's to avoid their trigger. You won't be able to justify their use to me to the point of me using them. All I ask is that I don't have to see them which can be done on the software side. I'm trying to point out also that it doesn't work for everyone. There is already a lot for their use, don't you think? How many people that use CW's or tell others to or make it a rule consider the people that are triggered by this? I don't see this topic spring up much. Which makes me wonder if I'm alone.

@incandescente And what do you this bk happens to me? I get anxious when people tell me to do this so you are basically doing to me what you worry my not cwing does to you. People have different triggers, and this is mine. Would you really minimalise that? And how about all the times in IRL where we have to shut up about what we go through because it makes others uncomfortable? Because it is not polite society? I don't need that kind of pressure on social media. Especially not from other people that have similar problems.

@incandescente Yes. When I see the mastodon way of a cw, it triggers something inside me. It is not a feeling I like to indulge in. I don't like seeing it, or clicking on it. I can't properly describe it. It hasn't helped when people have told me to use them in the past... Or that mental health has to be hidden behind a content wall.

@dhveszak I wonder if you react in this way because you support cw, or because you don't believe someone can be triggered? It is hard to tell since I know people in both camps on this.

I'm fortunate to be on a platform that doesn't recognise cw. So I only see it if I check other instances with it, and that is easier to back out of than seeing it constantly on my timeline.

You can't please everyone. And because the majority don't feel the way that I do about cw then it remains.

@dhveszak You think I'm kidding but I am not. It causes a bad emotional reaction in me just seeing it. Like how other people might feel seeing certain content... But that is me with cw itself.

Tbh, I'm probably the only one on fedi that gets 'triggered' by cw. It is an emotional thing that I don't like to be reminded even exists. But it isn't going away, and all I can ask is to have the ability to not see or use it.

I like to buy gifts that are of practical value, and that would get some use. Gifts that make me think about that person and if they will use it. I guess I like gifts of this nature too.

@rice @thatbrickster I think I'm just fussy when it comes to men. I do like cute, but I like men looking like cute boys rather than girls. I'm more flexible in women, I'm not sure if I prefer feminine women or tomboys... But I do like my tomboys to still have a feminine feel to them. If that makes sense. I'm not into the look with piercings or tattoos, or being an arsehole.
