I have said many times that selling stuff only to other broke artists is unsustainable as a way of making a living with art, and that if I work out how to sell things to rich people I'll let you know.

I think subscriptions might be part of how to do that.

I'm hoping to experiment with gift subscriptions this year. If I do, I'll report back.

Anyone have tips on the practicalities of this?

@jules and there was no option to buy train tickets that included the taxi fare, but if I'm travelling to a city, it's usually possible to purchase some kind of local bus or public transport pass for my destination city

I spent 3 of the last 8 days travelling and am currently feeling acutely aware of the bit where the half-hour taxi journey through Scottish hills was both the most expensive leg and also the least pleasant! Linear spacetime is hard.

@jules (at least, I'm assuming it's a different postal service, just like if I send something to Ireland from the UK, the delivery at that end isn't by the Royal Mail...)

For the avoidance of doubt: the toot I'm replying to is asking about how you manage an aspect of freelance work, NOT a crowdfunding ask of my own.

I dunno if there's a hashtag or something for this stuff. I know not everyone here is in the art-for-money line, and that's fine. Whatever is sustainable for you is valid!

I mean, don't use that letting agent is the obvious solution, but they're otherwise one of the less crappy ones (and knowing the landlord separately is helpful). Like telling someone who's seasick to sit under a tree. ;-)

If the landlord wants to renew then that's a different thing of course.
