@greg_harvey@mig5 I'm actually taking in-person classes at a local adult school. It seems way better than trying to teach myself alone -- but also, a lot of work and huge time commitment if I want to actually get more fluent
I've been trying to learn Spanish for a long time, doing Duolingo, taking beginner classes. But it's hard and so much work and maybe I should quit for awhile and be content that at least I'm good at computer languages
β HTML5 ping attributes can be used to track people if they click a link (<a href=β¦ ping=β¦>) by sending POST requests to an arbitrary amount of hosts β tracking is possible without any JavaScript, or Cookies β Steve Gibson talked about it in Security Now 709: https://mastodon.at/@infosechandbook/101899819296611698 β ping is enabled in Chrome, Opera, Edge, Safari by default
They keybase client is open source, but it is a centralized service and (I think?) the server is proprietary.
Here's the issue though to discuss the multiple logged-in accounts at once feature: https://github.com/keybase/client/issues/8586 -- looks like it is stalled, but I hope they implement it
@greenblue Huh. It doesn't seem to me that keybase has any "access", there's just API integration. I can see nervousness around choosing to integrate with a centralized service though. I personally think it's a good development, and is useful in being able to trust that fediverse accounts aren't fakes
I think historians should really lean into the whole βif you take down the statues weβll forget all the historyβ thing
TV person: βHow do you feel about the removal of the monument?β
Historian: βwhat monument?β
TVP: β...the one commemorating the Confederacy...β
Historian: βCon...fed...eracy? Never heard of itβ
TVP: βIT WAS A GIANT STATUE STANDING RIGHT THERE COMMEMORATING THE LOSING SIDE IN THE CIVIL WARβ
Historian: βthat doesnβt sound right, why would you put up a statue to the losing side? Besides, youβd think Iβd remember a thing like that, Iβm an historianβ
In this interview Pete Buttigieg says he's "troubled by" Obama's decision to commute Chelsea Manning's sentence. And he agrees Snowden exposed abuses but said "the way for that to come out is through Congressional oversight, not through breach of classified information."
This 7-minute utopian sci-fi film, narrated by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and animated by Molly Crabapple, is very good. It imagines a future where we decide to take climate change seriously and, through the Green New Deal, work to change everything about our society https://youtu.be/d9uTH0iprVQ
@nedelne_rano it's an end-to-end encrypted messaging app, but with team chatroom features that make it more similar Slack. And it has a cloud storage filesystem, including for each team (like Dropbox), and git repo hosting. Except unlike Slack, Dropbox, or Github, all of your Keybase data is encrypted using keys Keybase doesn't have access to. Not enough services are actually zero knowledge, and Keybase is doing cool shit in this area
