@clacke@liaizon Thank you; most interesting. I'm (possibly unreasonably) irritated by weird language trends, probably because I'm old and was taught this stuff in a very formal way. For example, I keep hearing "hone in", instead of "home in" at the moment. What does "sharpen in" actually mean? I'm currently planning an episode on plurals - criterion/criteria, thesis/theses, nebula/nebulae, etc.
@chalkahlom Very true. As a kid I didn't realise this, and so we had "death by greed" in the chicken population. On the plus side I got to watch the Vet as he dissected the dead chicken.
@timttmy Funny you say that. I just deleted it from my queue without even listening. 90% of the time BBC radio comedy is crap in my estimation. I only like the News Quiz and the Now Show on the Friday feed. MAybe I Have weird tastes but it's how I am π
@chalkahlom Sounds like a good idea. If you let them onto such an area they'd strip it all in my experience (and dig it up), but it'd take a while. If you cut it for them they can eat without having to "forage" so they can consume much faster, and in my anecdote one of them did with fatal consequences, as you know! Also the bad effects might depend on grass type, length, toughness, etc. So taking it easy might be the best way to go.
@NYbill Great idea. That's what I try and do when someone mentions shows where the links are dead (or I spot them while doing tags, etc), though it's not always successful of course.
@clacke Finally had a chance to talk USB-C with my son. He has two USB-C phones (don't ask) and one charger cable and has had this setup for over a year. No problems with the cable he says. He charges his phones daily.
@timttmy Nah. You're confusing me with my relative "Morris Dancing". I'm the other side of the family, more "Morris: like a beached whale on the sofa"...
@clacke Not personally. I have just bought a Raspberry Pi 4B which uses it for power, but haven't run it yet. My son has a phone with USB-C, so I'll ask him when I see him and report back.
@clacke Oh, nasty. These connectors are not in general very good in my experience.
I just repaired by refurbished IBM "clicky" keyboard (another thing my son did for me) because the USB A socket in the back was crappy. I think this was an Amazon panel-mount USB A to microUSB and only lasted 6 months.
@clacke My son, who likes making certain things, was making various USB cables for a while for family members. He sheathed them with the outer part of para-cord, making them very robust. My point is that it'd be good to make your own if you had the time & resources!
@chalkahlom My kids don't live with me, but I feed them several nights a week. I was looking for something different to cook next time and suddenly thought of a Spanish omelette, a suggestion that was greeted with enthusiasm. I suspect it was your regular egg report that put the idea into my head! A large omelette can take 8-9 eggs apparently π
@chalkahlom Not valid from an evolutionary point of view I know, but I'm just imagining a Jurassic Park episode where the dinosaurs cluck... I'd enjoy that π
