@maxigaz I just noticed that gnusocial supports groups:
https://gnusocial.net/doc/groups There is also: www.loomio.org I wonder how something like the messenger Ring would work for groups. The issue is of course that people are on FB already and it's not easy to make them to try something else.

@maxigaz Great topic, wish you fun with writing an article. There is also spreed.me, which is integrated in Nextcloud. I'm sort of curious which performs the best.

@matt There was just a review on distrowatch using Devuan and XFCE, this is how it came to my mind. But it's good to read that someone is actually used to systemd, because mostly it's the other way, people try to keep their old non-systemd habits....

Did anyone switch from G to Shoebox?
Is there anything better than Shoebox?

Okay, I'm done clogging your timelines with my nerdshit.
Let me know what you think! Am I overlooking something? Is there a reason this won't work?
Aside from dat's current implementation being written in Node.js, and the lack of ios/android clients, this all looks like a pretty good idea to me.

@jt "ThinkPad X280 endured for 8 hours and 1 minute on the Laptop Mag Battery Test, which involves continuous surfing over Wi-Fi." - that battery time is ridiculous for a recent notebook. Cannot comment on the looks, haven't tried one yet.

@maxigaz I suppose when talking about these things the best way is never ever using the word "privacy". Actually I read somewhere a very bright article about this topic (never using the word "privacy"), but I just cannot find it anymore. There are expressions like data protection or protecting messages, etc. which sound better and don't annoy people (because using "privacy" sounds like someone is some kind of a criminal or brainless paranoid, like in that movie Conspiracy Theorie).

@snowdusk_ Could someone maybe explain how or why the raccoon climbs that easy on a pure tower wall? What's the secret behind the climbing technique?

@wxl Is this project still going on?
Because such a service based on opennmt is truly missing.

People just don't seem to realize how brainless it is to use any g*evil service...
Well known fact: Why are those services/products free?
Because YOU are the product, if you use them...
