From the comments a developer says that typically text is sent to a server which renders it into a graphic on the fly. Seems like a page loading time nightmare.

A look at Japanese websites with some ideas about why they're so different than modern English websites. The idea I find most interesting is the difficulty of using fonts, and the lack of availability of complete ones. — https://randomwire.com/why-japanese-web-design-is-so-different/

Visualizing Mastodon communities, a tool by the dataviz community that others may find useful as well.

@aparrish I use it. Probably depends on which features you need. But, works for me.

Article on how the commons can be a successful instrument for managing resources, "the fact remains that a great deal of economic theory and policy presume a rather crude, archaic model of human being" — http://evonomics.com/the-only-woman-to-win-the-nobel-prize-economics-debunked/

vis.social has been live for <1 week and we already have 328 interesting folks here. I'd love your help getting the word out, especially to folks otherwise underrepresented in the field and online.

I would pay to watch this movie. Probably even the sequels: Escape from the Inferno and Return of the Bourgeoisie. — http://existentialcomics.com/comic/222

Got my presentations page migrated over to use Jekyll collections instead of cut-and-paste. You can go visit it and ... it should look exactly the same. But know that internally it is so much better. And the date formats, oh, they are so consistent now.

@gwmngilfen @ted @mairin I think so. They have free PDF pages with the same markers on them that you can try without buying a notebook. http://hyperurl.co/rocketbook-pdf

@Horst yeah, more Linux geeks, but not all technical. So on the edge.

@scott clearly we'll need a focus group and a team of consultants. It's the only way.
I'm not sure if this toot needs a Content Warning.

@Horst yeah, that's what I was thinking. The real goal is to get people to reach out after the presentation with questions, so I want them to respond to it.
But, I think that for the federation experiment to really work, there has to be more than one implementation.
What I'm thinking right now after talking to a few people is to actually put both on. It won't take up that much space on the slide and will hopefully grow recognition of the ActivityPub logo.

@popey really you should just release the ARM and PowerPC versions on time to troll Intel.
Perhaps release notes: "Yo' CPUs are too broken to release software!"

@mhall119 yeah, that's a problem. I think the number of people who are really familiar is enough to fit on a small bus. So there's probably not a lot of spare capacity there.
