Also, today I saw a Parasteatoda tepidariorum grappling with an isopod that had completely rolled up into a ball. It was like the miniature version of videos I've seen of lions trying to get at curled-up pangolins.
The spider was turning it round and round trying to find a spot it could bite. Suddenly it lost its grip and dropped it, and it fell into the leaf litter. Isopod 1, spider 0. #smolfrens 🔁

Up close and personal with Dysdera crocata, the woodlouse hunter! These mighty fangs are for piercing the shells of isopods, a.k.a. woodlice, sowbugs, potato bugs, roly-polies, and so on.
This spider, legs and all, was maybe 1cm long. Very timid disposition. #dailyspiderpic #smolfrens
