80 pages into Sofia Samatar's "A Stranger In Olondria" (Small Beer Press, 2013), which unbelievably I am just getting to now. I wasn't really feeling it, the prose is a bit too ornate for my liking and I'm not really into fantasy any more, but the plot development at the end of chapter 2 will keep me pressing on. 🔁

I should probably just give up and buy another Yiddish grammar and dictionary as they are in the keeping of estranged bio family and I've long since written those books off

Google Translate Yiddish says the plural of egg (אײ, ey) is…עגגס. That is literally "eggs" spelled out, including the two g's. I don't trust you, גוגל!!!!

@theoutrider I cannot help but think of 15th century English publisher William Caxton's "eggs" story, where a merchant asks a woman for "egges" and she's like "I don't speak French" and he's like "Neither do I, I just want egges!" and finally another merchant is like "Do you have eyren?" and she's like "Ohh, eyren, why didn't you say so?"
