@jk my new x470 motherboard with the came 1600x now runs at least 1 stick at full 3200mhz speed, haven't been able to try both sticks since one is defective. not noticing any speed increases but not having memory problems anymore so. that's good i guess

@jk ryzen doesn't like ram very much so it's entirely possible that the ram just can't achieve its full speed, especially with 4 modules. my previous x370 motherboard paired with a 1600x couldn't even run 2x8gb 3200mhz sticks.

bios options were set to 3200mhz but it was pretty much constantly at 2133mhz instead

it's kinda cool though because it means there's almost always something new and interesting for me to learn that keeps me engaged

i've built all my own desktop computers in the last decade as well as helped others do the same and i still don't understand everything about the parts involved, somehow

so i guess strategically you'd want to have all the ram you'd want to use at once across 2 sticks, and all the ram you'll need in total across 4 sticks, at least when using a dual channel setup?

actually, i guess you're not really gonna be accessing all of your ram at once, just parts of it. so having more ram allows you to store more data at once, but the memory bandwidth doesn't matter a whole lot either way?

tech question: i know having 2 sticks of ram is better than 1, but what's the deal with 4 sticks of ram in a dual channel setup? doesn't bandwidth get too clogged up to use all four sticks at once? or is it like pcie lanes where most graphics cards only really need 8x and barely get any additional performance from running on the full 16x?

i used to absolutely hate the Wild West theme for things but westworld is making me really want some sort of good modern western game.

there was some other game i was super excited about the concept of playing it in mmo form but i have completely forgotten what it was

i really hope whenever we get our society back to a point where community is a huge focus, that there is a huge boom of extremely weird yet high quality mmo games

hell, i'd love to see warped af multiplayer games of all kinds

@sc yeah, the word is synonymous with "sickly/disabled" and often used as a rather demeaning term when referring to other people

@sc heads up, you might wanna use "not valid" instead of "invalid" as the latter has some unfortunate other meanings
