i guess that's where things like districts would come in, but the close proximity and pooled resources might still make it hard to not step on each others' toes, even if power can be kept on a small scale within individual communities. but it's better than what we have now tbh

which would be kinda cool but it'd also make a lot of the participants feel relatively small and powerless, and power would start to become centralised due to including everyone on a personal level for proper consensus decision making being too difficult
so maybe that would be a possibility but not necessarily something strictly desirable? and yet it could just like, happen, without really trying or being aware of it?

so it's entirely possible that there would be lots of little tiny towns/communities all spread out as far as the eye can see, with a lot of shared/meshed together infrastructure and resources.
but it's also possible that one community might make some sort of huge advancement, or put a bunch of resources all in one place, and slowly absorb a ton of adjacent communities into one big mega community that basically mirrors the likes of cities like toronto

even if we like to have our own spaces, we're always yearning to meet new people, make new friends, grow the possible pool of interactions, probably even beyond what we're capable of keeping up with. mostly to feel like we're getting and giving enough attention, and that there are enough people around that every single one of our interests and ideas can be shared with someone else.

do you think in a society based on community power, that we'd have more big cities, or small towns?
i like to think of it like cliques/friend groups, the easiest example of self-governed/non-governed social structure.
just like there's a bunch of discord servers and federation instances and all those other fun internet social gathering places, we feel compelled to make a space where we can be our truest selves amongst our friends and share specific interests, in-jokes, ideas

@waweic @b the proletariat cannot rule the entire country all at once without some sort of structure that'll inevitably become hierarchy, but by splitting everyone up into small manageable communities where their efforts directly effect how they and the people they care about live...we can probably achieve a pretty friendly and equitable society

@waweic @b i agree with the oligarchy point as seen in our social behaviour outside of governing strictures of having cliques/friend groups.
however we can turn this into an advantage by just having every community be relatively small and self-ruling, on a scale that's easier to consider everyone's pov and allow equitable participation for those who want it, for the purpose of consensus decision making.
equitable power to every community member

but anyway my overall point is that you are being highly encouraged to pet lots of dogs because some supernatural force is probably keeping track

there are probably so many categories with so many obscure things to be best at/do the most of/etc that you are probably the best at something, if not multiple things
there are way too many things to measure in this universe

what if there's like, some sort of secret leaderboard on some other plane of existence, that's monitoring various strange statistics about everyone who's ever lived
we're all competing to see how many dogs we can pet, how many cups of coffee we can drink, how many songs we listen to, all in our lifetime
